Melissa’s Story

Melissa’s fresh start began when her empty apartment finally felt like home.

Nearly two years ago, Missy made the decision to get sober and begin her recovery journey. With a strong support system, she moved from treatment to sober living and was ready to live on her own. When she found the small, affordable place, she knew it was meant to be. For the first time in years, she had a real home. But the apartment was empty.

“I had no idea where I would sleep or eat a meal. Thankfully, my sponsor knew who could help.”
Missy connected with St. Vincent de Paul and received assistance to furnish her new space – a new bed, a kitchen table, and the essentials . “It was awesome,” she said. “They helped me choose what mattered most so I could move in.”

Today, Missy sits in her kitchen with pride. The furniture represents more than household items. it represents stability, recovery, and a fresh start.
