Volunteer in the
Thrift Store

Give Your Time.
Change a Life.
Strengthen Our Community.

When you volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift & Furniture Store, you are doing more than sorting donations or assisting customers. You are helping neighbors across Northeast Ohio stay housed, fed, and clothed with dignity.

In 2025, more than 40,300 volunteer service hours were donated across all SVdP programs, a powerful reflection of neighbors helping neighbors. Every hour you give supports our mission to serve those in need throughout Ashtabula, Portage, and Trumbull Counties. Volunteer today and turn a few hours into lasting impact.

SVdP Thrift Store Volunteering FAQs

What do volunteers do at the thrift store?

Volunteers play an essential role in keeping our thrift store running smoothly. They help stock and organize merchandise, hang clothing, arrange displays, and assist customers. Volunteers also support the Donation Center by sorting and preparing items as they arrive. Every task, big or small, helps provide resources and support to neighbors in need.

Not at all. Volunteers receive hands-on training and support, no prior retail experience required. Whether you are working behind the scenes or assisting customers, we will show you the ropes. Start volunteering, we provide the training and even a really cool SVdP vest.

Every hour you volunteer helps fund emergency assistance, clothing programs, and housing support for neighbors facing hardship. Our thrift store is a vital social enterprise that supports all local SVdP programs and services.
Your time directly supports our mission and brings hope to neighbors in need.

Yes. We offer flexible volunteer opportunities, including weekdays, weekends, and short-term service options. Whether you have a few hours or a recurring schedule, there is a place for you.
Bring a friend and make a difference together.

Absolutely. Volunteering at the SVdP thrift store is a great fit for students seeking service hours, internships, or real-world experience in customer service, operations, and nonprofit work.
