SVdP Housing Security Assistance Programs
At SVdP Northeast Ohio, we believe that stable housing is the foundation for health, safety, and long-term stability. Our housing security and homelessness prevention programs are designed to help individuals and families remain safely housed, recover from crisis, and rebuild their lives with dignity.
Whether preventing eviction, restoring essential household needs, or helping transform an empty space into a home, each program provides practical support and compassionate care—ensuring our neighbors are not facing hardship alone.
Hearth & Home
Programs
At SVdP Northeast Ohio, we know that a safe and stable home is the foundation for everything else—health, security, dignity, and peace of mind. The Hearth & Home Program is designed to help individuals and families facing crisis remain housed and avoid falling deeper into hardship.
Through this program, we provide financial assistance for rent, mortgage payments, utility bills, and emergency housing needs. Whether someone is facing job loss, illness, or another life-altering event, we step in to help prevent eviction, utility shutoffs, and homelessness before they happen.
Beyond Financial
Assistance
This work goes beyond financial assistance. Each neighbor is met with compassion, respect, and individualized support. We take time to understand each situation and connect households to additional resources that can help create long-term stability.
When we help someone keep the lights on, stay warm, or hold onto their home, we are not just preserving shelter – we are protecting families, reducing trauma, and creating a foundation of hope for a brighter future.

Sleep Soundly Program
At SVdP Northeast Ohio, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, clean, and comfortable place to sleep. Yet for many of our neighbors that basic comfort is out of reach.
Too many are forced to sleep on floors, couches, or in overcrowded spaces. Others have lost their beds due to infestation, incarceration, homelessness, or while transitioning from shelters or temporary housing. That’s why we created the Sleep Soundly Program.
A Good Night's
Sleep for All
This program fills a critical gap in local safety net services by providing brand-new beds and mattresses to individuals and families in need. Thanks to our partnership with The Chicago Mattress Company, we’re able to deliver high-quality mattresses, still wrapped in plastic, straight from the factory.
With each bed we deliver, we’re not just providing furniture – we’re helping restore dignity, improve health, and bring hope, one night of rest at a time.

Share to Care Program
Through the Share to Care Program, SVdP Northeast Ohio provides furniture and household goods vouchers to individuals and families transitioning out of crisis.
These vouchers help turn empty spaces into livable homes by providing essential items such as beds, tables, chairs, and kitchenware. For many, this represents a fresh start—a chance to rebuild in a space that feels safe, functional, and welcoming.
Home Visits
Home visits are at the heart of how SVdP Northeast Ohio serves – rooted in compassion, dignity, and personal connection. They are also a required and critical step in our Share to Care assessment process. When a family is facing crisis, trained Vincentian volunteers meet them where they are, offering support in a way that is personal and respectful.
During each visit, volunteers listen, assess needs, and connect neighbors to the appropriate programs and resources. More importantly, they offer reassurance—that no one is alone in their struggle.

EMPWR Sleeping Bag Coats
SVdP distributes convertible sleeping bag coats to our neighbors experiencing homelessness—offering not just warmth, but dignity and hope. Designed to transform into insulated sleeping bags, they provide critical protection from the elements for individuals forced to sleep outdoors.
Each coat is thoughtfully delivered with a powerful message of compassion and solidarity – reminding recipients that they are seen, valued, and not alone. It’s more than a coat; it’s a gesture of humanity in the face of hardship, and a practical step toward easing the burden of life on the streets.
Each recipient of an EMPWR sleeping bag coat also receives
three pairs of Bombas socks, underwear, toiletries, and a box of food.
