Advocate for Our Community

At St. Vincent de Paul, we believe advocacy is a powerful way for laypeople to live out their faith in action. By serving as a moral compass in public life, we work to defend the dignity of every human person and promote the common good.

Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, our advocacy reflects Gospel values in real-world issues—shaping policies on poverty, education, healthcare, and more. It is a reminder that faith belongs not only in private worship, but also in the pursuit of justice, compassion, and peace in our communities and our world.

How to Take Action

You can advocate with St. Vincent de Paul by joining a local Conference as a Vincentian, walking alongside neighbors in need, listening to their stories, and helping address both immediate challenges and systemic barriers. Advocacy may also take the form of serving as a trained client advocate, volunteering in food pantries or thrift stores, or joining campaigns that influence policies on poverty, housing, and healthcare.

Through SVdP’s “Voice for the Poor” initiatives, you can go further: contacting legislators, shaping policies on poverty, housing, and healthcare, and ensuring that Catholic Social Teaching has a voice in public life. Together, we can help transform lives and move communities toward lasting stability.
