Pamela’s Story

When the local hospital closed, Pamela suddenly faced losing her home.

For more than thirty years, Pamela served our community as a Registered Nurse. After her husband died eighteen years ago, she raised her son on her own — sometimes working two jobs.

In March 2025, she lost her position at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Months passed without work. Savings ran out. Bills piled up.

“I never imagined that I would need to ask for help with paying my bills,” Pamela said. “I had to decide between paying my rent and utilities or buying groceries.”

When Pamela reached out, SVdP provided emergency rent and utility assistance, preventing eviction and keeping food on the table.

“St. Vincent de Paul literally saved me and my son from impending homelessness and hunger,” she shared. “I was so lost after losing my job. I’m forever grateful for St. Vincent de Paul’s assistance.”
